Parent University

Fairfield Elementary School’s Parent University is a school-wide initiative that promotes learning for parents of FES students by taking families’ challenges, needs, and educational goals into account for the maximum impact on student success. The program teaches valuable skills and knowledge that benefit both families and children and promotes an inclusive school culture, helping participants to feel welcomed and valued in our school community.
 
ALL SESSIONS BEGIN AT 8:30AM UNLESS STATED OTHERWISE. CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST WILL BE SERVED FOR ALL REGISTERED ATTENDEES
 
NOW ACCEPTING ENROLLMENT FOR THE FOLLOWING SESSIONS: 
 

September 20: Back to School Basics - Join us to learn about our school initiatives and academic programs. Learn how to get involved and how your participation impacts your child’s academic performance and overall success in school.

October 18: Coping Skills for Kids - Kids experience a vast array of feelings, just as adults do. They can feel bored, anxious, sad, disappointed, embarrassed, and scared. In this session, we will identify various strategies you can use to help your child manage their emotions in a healthy way.

November 15: Building Stronger Families - In this workshop, we will look at the qualities that make our families strong, and learn strategies and activities that can strengthen our families even more.

December 13: Benefits of Cooking with Kids - Do you cook with your kids? Cooking with kids provides practical experience with many essential skills such as reading, following directions, and measuring. Come join us for a workshop that includes simple recipes and great activity ideas.

January 17:  Time Management for Kids - This workshop will provide parents a range of tools and techniques they can use to help their children manage time to accomplish specific tasks, projects, and goals.

February 21: Learning Styles - This workshop teaches parents about the various learning styles and how to identify what style works best for their child.  This will help parents capitalize on their child’s strengths at school and at home.

March 27: Setting Goals & Following Through - Does your child bring home a seemingly endless trail of papers from school?  Join us to learn how these papers can become a tool in teaching your child about goal setting.
