Welcome to Fairfield Elementary

Greetings Stellar Stingray Families,

I welcome each of you to a brand-new year that brings with it much excitement but also some anxieties as we navigate processes and procedures this year due to the pandemic.  However, I remain optimistic and hopeful that by working together, we can ensure that our students, faculty, staff and all stakeholders can remain safe which is our number one priority.

Our theme this year is “Family of Learning Built on Collaboration, Commitment, and Community!”  We know that although our students are not walking up and down our hallways and interacting with one another, we are able to adapt and use the life skill of flexibility to embrace our new normal of virtual instruction. Our teachers are excited to begin the journey of live streaming classes and providing our students an opportunity to engage with their classmates and learn in a different way. Our learning cannot stop and learning has no boundaries.  We must continue learning from our actions, events and experiences.

Our Modified Virtual platform for distance learning will require everyone to work together, be committed to the process and work as a greater community to ensure that our students are successful.  Our teachers will share with you the times and schedule for learning.  It is our expectation that students attend and be virtually present each day.  Attendance will be taken twice a day so it is very important that your child check in daily.  There will be flexibility in the schedule for independent work as well as small group interventions.  The goal is to keep two-way communication open so that our students gain the skills and meet their learning objectives for the 2020-2021 school year.

Fairfield Elementary is still a great place to learn.  However, we are learning in a different way.  We have an open-door policy but we will ask that if you need to speak to your child’s teacher, you must have an appointment.  Masks are required at all times and temperature checks will be taken.  As I stated earlier, safety of everyone, especially our staff and students, require different actions.  Due to social distancing and capacity of our building, parents must remain in their cars for both arrival and dismissal and unfortunately will not be able to walk students to class.
I appreciate your help and commitment to helping us provide a safe place for your child to grow and learn.  Hopefully, we will be able to get back to some form of normalcy in the future but as of now, these processes and procedures are necessary and we thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Happy Learning Stellar Stingrays! I wish all of our students and families a great year despite any challenges we face.

Educationally yours,
Tammy F. Martin Ed. D

2020-2021 Restart, Reimagine, and Reopen Plan and Modified Virtual model

On Tuesday, July 21, 2020, the Fairfield County School District Board of Trustees approved our 2020-2021 Restart, Reimagine, and Reopen Plan. Our plan is designed to deliver a Modified Virtual model where students will predominantly receive instruction virtually. It is our hope that at a later time this year, students will be able to transition to a Modified Traditional model. With the Modified Virtual model, students will be identified to potentially receive face-to-face instruction based on specific grade level and/or specific needs i.e., English Language Learners (ELL), Special Education, Career and Technical Education (CTE), Gifted & Talented (GT), and/or accessibility to the internet). Parents are encouraged to complete the Fairfield County School District 2020-2021 Intent Form online via Parent Square no later than August 3rd.

REQUIRED SUMMER READING PROGRAM 2020

Fairfield County School District had many reading initiatives this school year. Students showed much progress. To continue this high level of improvement, we will continue our mandatory district-wide summer reading assignments. All students will be required to meet the summer reading requirements for their 2020-2021 grade level.
